Police in Serpa have mounted a manhunt for the 34-year-old man suspected of shooting dead a retired GNR officer on Monday night.
The murder took place outside a café, reports Lusa news agency – and the crime is thought to have been “for reasons of passion”.
The body of the former officer, shot in the head, was taken to Beja hospital for an autopsy.
Lusa reports that the assailant – being hunted by both the GNR and the PJ – is in possession of two firearms.
