THE MANCHESTER United football team has been staying at the Algarve resort of Vale do Lobo this week for pre-season training. The players arrived with their families on Monday, June 27, and will be staying at Vale do Lobo until Sunday, July 2.
Called back from their personal holidays 10 days earlier than normal this year, the team’s manager, Alex Ferguson, is desperate to restore morale among the team and prepare them to close the gap on Chelsea FC this season. The choosing of the Algarve, as the ideal location for the team’s pre-season training camp, is clearly down to Manchester United’s deputy coach, Carlos Queiroz, who is Portuguese.
The team’s young Portuguese striker, Cristiano Ronaldo, is said to have caused a stir among fans when he arrived at the resort on Monday driving a silver Porsche. The next stop for the team is Asia.
