WALKING FOOTBALL action 23-10--14.jpg

Manchester City in Olhão

Soccer Olhanense Strollers 50+ welcome their counterparts from Manchester City for a festival of Walking Football at the José Arcanjo Stadium, Olhão, on Wednesday, May 11.

Six teams from Manchester, Lagos, Vilamoura and Tavira will step out onto the astro-turf pitch with the action getting underway at 10am.

The mature footballers, all over 50 years of age and some well into their 70s, will be restricted to just three touches before passing the ball.

There is definitely no running, on-or-off the ball, which is penalised by the award of a free-kick.

In the evening, players and guests will sit down to a typical Portuguese meal at a local restaurant.

The following day, those players not suffering from the after-effects of the previous day will compete in the monthly FootGolf Challenge at the Colina Verde Golf & Sports Resort at Maragota near Moncarapacho. Members of the public are welcome at both events.
