A 28-year-old man was killed in a motorbike accident in Marmelete, Monchique on Sunday morning (June 4).
Hélder Filipe, who lived in Lagos, was driving through the mountain range with a group of friends when he apparently lost control of his Yamaha FZR600 and crashed against a barrier on the side of the road, according to national tabloid Correio da Manhã.
Emergency services were called but his death was declared at the scene.
An autopsy was due to take place as GNR police investigate the accident.
