A man said to be in his 50’s was struck and killed by a train near the level crossing at Cardosas in Portimão, not far from the town’s main station, on Tuesday (June 3) at around 6.40pm.
Police investigating are working on the theory of suicide. According to eye-witness reports, the man was already dead by the time rescue workers arrived at the scene.
Traffic was cut off near the station for over an hour.
