A 60-year-old man fell to his death from a cliff above Ericeira on Sunday morning. Surfer Óscar Cardoso saw the man enter the water and rushed to his aid, but there was nothing he could do, he told reporters afterwards.
The man, named only as António, resident in nearby Casais de S. Lourenço, had gone into cardiac arrest. He was pronounced dead by rescue services called to the scene.
