A 30-year-old man died from serious head injuries after falling from a cliff in Aljezur last Thursday (September 5) while fishing.
The man, Bruno Rodrigues, a veterinarian born and living in Aljezur, lost his balance and fell nearly 50 metres in the area of Velha da Telha, Arrifana, as he approached an area close to the water where other fishermen had gathered.
He reportedly suffered a skull fracture.
A helicopter from the Portuguese Air Force was deployed to recover the body, which was located in an area that was difficult to access.
The body was then taken to the Barlavento Hospital.
According to the commander in chief of the Portimão and Lagos ports, the operation was concluded at 6.30pm.
