A 37-year old Ukrainian man drowned at the Arade dam near Silves in the early hours of July 26 following a barbecue with friends.
Friends of the man, who lived in Lagoa and worked as a painter, called the emergency services when he entered the water at around 2am to swim and disappeared from sight.
A GNR spokesman told the Algarve Resident that the man’s body was found underwater at 11.40am the following day by divers from the bombeiros.
The authorities believe the man died by accidental drowning.
