A 46-year-old man died in a motorbike crash near the Algarve Stadium between Faro and Loulé on Tuesday night (May 5).
Authorities received a call at around 8pm warning that a man had been involved in a motorbike accident near the stadium and was unconscious.
When emergency services arrived, the victim was found alone, going into cardiac arrest. Attempts by INEM and VMER medical teams to resuscitate the man proved futile and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
GNR police suspect the accident happened during an illegal race as the area near the stadium is usually deserted and notorious for these kinds of ‘underground races’. An investigation is underway.
