A 43-year-old German man died when his car skidded off the road and crashed into a tree in the hills of Tavira on Saturday morning (December 28).
Reports Correio da Manhã tabloid, the man was on his way home when he apparently lost control of his Opel Speedster which skidded off the road into a small stream and only stopped when it crashed against a tree.
Two people driving in the opposite direction saw the car “disappearing off the road and a lot of dust in the air” and realised that something had happened and alerted the authorities.
CM adds that the man’s wife appeared as authorities were trying to rescue the man after she became worried that he had run late and decided to follow the latest GPS coordinates on his phone.
However, he was already dead when emergency teams arrived at the scene.
