A man who was walking along the side of the A22 motorway in Portimão died after being hit by the wing mirror of a truck and then run over by the car that was travelling behind it.
The tragic incident happened on Thursday at around 4.20pm at kilometre 22.
Exactly why the man, said to be in his mid-sixties, was walking along the motorway has not been explained.
INEM emergency services and firefighters tried to revive the man but he died at the scene.
GNR police are investigating.
