Man dies after being hit by train in Faro

Tragedy happened near Chalé das Canas 

A 63-year-old man has died this Monday morning (October 17) after being hit by a train in Faro.

The tragic incident happened at around 7.30am, according to a source from the district command of emergency operations (CDOS).

The man was hit by a regional train near Chalé das Canas, the source added.

Traffic was cut off on the railway for around two hours but has been resumed.

Thirteen members of Faro Sapadores firefighters, the national medical emergency institute (INEM), PSP police and infrastructure authority Infraestruturas de Portugal were called to the scene.
