Man arrested on child porn charges

PJ police in the Algarve have arrested a 44-year-old man accused of sharing pornographic photographs and videos involving children under the age of 14.

The man, described as foreign and having lived in the Algarve for years, would move around the region frequently, known to have lived in Faro, Olhão and Portimão.

According to PJ police, he would use the internet of the houses he resided in, which were registered in the name of other people, “to avoid being detected”.

The PJ say the man was in possession of a “significant number of pornographic files, including photos and videos, of completely naked children involved in explicit sexual acts”.

Thanks to information provided by “an international organisation”, the PJ police in the Algarve were able to collect enough evidence and catch the man red-handed.

The investigation was led by the Public Prosecutor’s office DIAP (the department of investigation and penal action) in Olhão, where the man is due to appear before a judge.
