Man arrested for murder of flatmate in Portimão

The two men reportedly argued frequently

A 32-year-old Senegalese man has been arrested by PJ criminal police for the murder of his flatmate in Portimão on February 12.

In a statement to the press, PJ police say that the victim and the suspect shared a house in Portimão for several months and argued frequently.

“Following an argument caused by a trivial motive and fuelled by an excessive consumption of alcohol, the man who has been arrested used a knife to stab the victim in the neck,” the police force says, adding that the injury led to the victim’s death.

PSP were the first police force at the scene, followed by an investigation by PJ police which says it collected enough evidence to arrest the suspect.

The alleged attacked, said to be a bricklayer, is due to appear before a judge.
