Police foiled a tense situation in Camarate, Loures this morning after a 50-year-old man barricaded himself inside a property in Quinta das Mós, threatening to blow up the building with a gas bottle.
According to reports, the man was overpowered by police who broke into the property, and has since been taken to the Beatriz Ângelo Hospital.
It was not the first time the man had caused a disturbance, national tabloid Correio da Manhã reports.
A few years ago he is understood to have set his home on fire.
