A man and his dog had to be rescued by helicopter after they fell from a cliff in Sesimbra on Thursday (January 2).
According to Setúbal’s rescue operations command (CDOS), the man used his phone to call for help shortly after 2pm. The incident happened at the Cabo de Aires cliff near Praia do Penedo in Sesimbra, leaving the man and his dog in an area with poor visibility both from the sea and from land.
The rescue operation, which involved a Portuguese Air Force helicopter, lasted around three hours.
The dog was described as “unharmed” while the man is said to have sustained minor injuries to one of his hands and his face, having been taken to Hospital Garcia de Orta in Almada.
