Mamamaratona, the annual breast cancer awareness run organised by the Algarve’s cancer association (AOA), is to be held on October 25, starting from the Expo Arade fairs and exhibitions centre in Portimão.
This run or walk of five or eight kilometres on flat urban terrain along the edge of the River Arade is due to start at 10am.
The aim of this annual event is to inform people about breast cancer and the importance of regular cancer screening as well as to raise funds for the construction of Casa Flor das Dunas, a temporary residence for patients undergoing treatment at the radiotherapy unit in Faro.
Registration to take part in the Mamamaratona costs seven euros for adults and three euros for children up to the age of 12.
