Malo Clinic turns on the glitz at Faro dental practice

The official inauguration of a new dental practice managed by Malo Clinic in Faro was held last week (April 20), although the business has been in operation since February.
Described as an afternoon of “elegance and glamour”, the event was attended by dozens of people including Malo Clinic founder Paulo Malo, Algarve tourism boss Desidério Silva and Faro deputy mayor Paulo Santos as well as a number of well-known Portuguese actors and artists.
There was a tribute to actor Nicolau Breyner, “a friend and ambassador of the Malo brand” who died last month, and a musical performance by Wanda Stuart.
Representing a €250,000 investment, the new 500sqm clinic is located on the main Avenida de Faro and boasts 12 dental offices.
Back in February, the Malo group had said plans were to hire 10 more staff by 2017 and create €500,000-worth of business this year and €700,000 next.
The clinic is described as part of the group’s “strategic expansion plan” to provide “easier access to quality dental care in the south of Portugal”. Malo has had a clinic in Portimão since 2010.
The novelty of the Faro practice is that the group can target “a whole new market” as it is located not far from the town’s international airport.
The idea is to promote itself as a “medical tourism” attraction – offering services not only to residents but also “non-residents who already represent a considerable percentage” of the group’s activity.
