At SandyBlue, we live and breathe the Algarve way of life. We love this region and it has been great to see many tourists return in 2022 following two years of uncertainty. With 2023 upon us, the hard work will continue.
It has been an excellent year for the Algarve’s villa rental space, with Portugal winning Europe’s best tourist destination at the World Tourism Awards! SandyBlue has also seen some award success, winning ‘Best Marketing Initiative’ at the Algarve Business Awards in November.
With this recent success, we are truly spurred on to help property owners reach the same heights of success with their villa rental income. Helping them adapt to key travel trends while overseeing their property management needs is a big goal for our team as we approach the new year.
Adapting to new travel trends
The pandemic certainly taught our team to adapt to any situation that arises. With that behind us, we have continued to apply the lessons learned. There has been a wave of travel trends in 2022 that have come to the forefront.
We have ensured that our owners are well-equipped to deal with these new types of enquiries. For example, the increase in ‘workations’ or ‘bleisure travel’ has been huge this year. Digital nomads and remote workers are choosing destinations like the Algarve to mix business and travel. The opportunity for returning guests within this trend is huge, so we are helping owners with some changes to attract them. From faster Wi-Fi to longer stays, SandyBlue is ensuring these key features are clear to potential guests.
Another rising trend we have seen from our own enquiries is multi-generational travel. Larger groups, particularly families, are reuniting with a lovely holiday in the Algarve. So, owners with larger villas that can accommodate these groups should absolutely think about their rental proposition.
Improvements for the new year
The Christmas season is the perfect time to plan ahead. We use this period to work closely with our owner partners to review customer feedback, complete thorough inspections and identify required maintenance. This process is vital for success.
If owners do not use this quieter time for these improvements, it could take away rental opportunities in the spring or the summer if these are not done. That is why SandyBlue works tirelessly at this time of the year, taking the stress away from owners to provide complete peace of mind.
