A major fire in a busy district of Lisbon has left a two-storey building at risk of collapse.
The fire, on Olivais’ Avenida de Berlim, “completely destroyed” a large Chinese shop near the city’s Gare de Oriente railway station on Monday evening.
Traffic had to be diverted and locals evacuated from nearby homes to avoid smoke inhalation.
No one was hurt.
A short-circuit is believed to have been to blame, say reports, that suggest the building may no longer be structurally safe.
Dampening down operations continue this morning, as technical experts will now be evaluating the extent of the damage and how it can be repaired.
