Major drug raid

Lisbon’s criminal police (PJ) apprehended €25 million worth of cocaine that was being brought to Europe aboard a ship in banana boxes.

Investigation prior to the drug bust, considered the biggest of this year so far, began in May and focused on a fictitious banana importing company, based in Portugal. The drugs were found while the boat, coming from Colombia, was docked at the Lisbon port. Five men were arrested but are now on bail awaiting trial.
