Mains water finally arrives in rural Castro Marim

Providing clean, potable water to 50 rural areas in Castro Marim – where water supply still comes from local fountains – is one of the municipality’s main priorities for the coming years.
“Guaranteeing the supply of safe tap water is our commitment to the community of Castro Marim,” said Mayor Francisco Amaral.
The council project will improve the quality of life of local communities and also make them “more attractive” to live in.
Construction work, being carried out by council staff, has already begun in the parish of Cerro do Enho, where the council is building 24 conduits, a pumping system and treatment station to supply all with mains water.
This first phase of the project is expected to be completed within two months.
