Today saw the presentation Magellan 500, the project for a new airport to serve Lisbon sited in Santarém. Says Diário de Notícias, the infrastructure would be “built from scratch according to the most advanced practices in the industry” with the collaboration of national and international companies. It is estimated that it would have an initial capacity of 10 million passengers per year but would be subject to a phased expansion that would lead the infrastructure to have three runways and accommodate 100 million passengers per year.
