Madonna “no longer a tourist”in Portugal

Pop icon Madonna, one the new rush of celebrities to fall for Portugal’s charms, is “already living in Lisbon”, reports Visão magazine – though not yet “installed” in the 18th century palacete she purchased in June (click here).

While renovation work goes ahead on the hillside property in Sintra, Madonna is living with her youngest children in Lisbon’s luxury Pestana Palace hotel, in Alcântara.

Says Visão, she has become a “Lisboeta”, and is no longer considered a tourist by locals who have witnessed her comings and goings since May when she enrolled adopted son David Banda with Benfica football school in Seixal, and when she was seen putting the names of her youngest daughters, twins Estere and Stella, down to start at the capital’s French Lycée in September.

Other celebrities setting up home in Portugal include film legend Harrison Ford and his actress wife Calista Flockhart.

The pair joined the ever-increasing list of foreign visitors who say they have “fallen in love with Portugal” earlier this summer.
