Maurice T, an Algarve based artist, is holding his first individual exhibition in Évora this month, when he will hang 25 of his paintings in the Hotel Dom Fernando. His art is deliberately diverse in both styles and subjects and his clients include the President of Loulé Câmara.
Just two years ago, the painting featured here, Nossa Senhora, was sitting in a small gallery in Loulé. It now has pride of place in the Câmara President’s office. The inspiration for the painting was a statue, which is kept in Loulé Cathedral. Every year at Easter time, it is bought down to a small church in central Loulé for all to appreciate – including Maurice.
