Madeira wants to keep golden visas/ AL

Miguel Albuquerque, leader of the regional government of Madeira, has said the autonomous region wants to keep ‘golden’ visas and the AL (holiday rentals) regime. Criticising the “centralized and Lisbon perspective” of the central government’s measures to solve the housing crisis, he said today that: “At this moment, to turn everything back, I think it is ridiculous and it is bad for the country and it is bad for the national economy (…) Nothing justifies Madeira being covered by this set of measures that are fundamentally aimed at Lisbon and Porto.”
