Maddie suspect: defence believes German police trying to force confession

With the Maddie mystery being resuscitated by newspapers once again, news from Germany is that ‘principal suspect’ Christian Brückner has been moved from the jail where he had been suffering physical abuse to a new prison where he is now in solitary confinement. His defence (lawyer Friedrich Fülscher) is reported to say he suspects German police are trying to force a confession. Brückner and Fülscher have both hotly refuted the German theory that Brückner was responsible for the abduction and murder of three year old Madeleine (click here and here).
