Media buzz over the weekend centres on Portuguese police being “closer than ever before” to solving the mystery of what really happened to Madeleine McCann.
Quoting Correio da Manhã (which hasn’t actually run a recent story), British tabloids say talks have gone ahead with British officers “on the new prime suspect”, which appears to be a “foreign man in the Algarve at the time of the youngster’s disappearance” over 12 years ago.
Says the Mirror, cops working on Operation Grange – the Scotland Yard investigation that has to date spent over €12 million looking for Madeleine – have travelled to Porto recently “to discuss the investigation”.
But it’s all “very secret”.
“Only the police know who the suspect is”, explains the Mirror – and “it is not clear if the suspect’s current whereabouts are known”.
The story has been duly picked up by media sources throughout Europe.
