OCEÂNICO DEVELOPMENTS is expected to confirm the purchase of Lusotur Golfes this week, resulting in the taking of control of the company’s five golf courses in Vilamoura.

In January, André Jordan, president of the Board of Directors of Planfipsa SGPS, the company that owns Lusotur Golfes, confirmed that they were considering three or four proposals from Portuguese and international investors.

Last week, a source close to the André Jordan Group revealed that Oceânico, were “in the best position to acquire Lusotur Golfes”.

Oceânico have not confirmed this, but were due to hold a press conference yesterday (Thursday), to make a comment about the situation. Managed by Irishmen Gerry Fagan and Simon Burgess, Oceânico is currently constructing the Amendoeira Resort at Herdade das Lameiras in Silves, as well as owning several developments in Lagos.

Lusotur’s five golf courses attracted a total of 200,000 players between January and November 2006, becoming the first Portuguese golf company to record such a high number in less than one season.
