German airline Lufthansa will be cancelling 12 flights it has scheduled to and from Portugal this Friday (March 20) due to a three-day strike that started on Wednesday, an official source from the airline told Lusa news agency.
The same source added that the cancelled flights will be those linking Munich and Frankfurt to the Portuguese capital.
Pilots’ union Cockpit had initially called for a 24-hour strike on Wednesday but has extended it to Thursday and now Friday.
On Wednesday, a total of 750 flights had to be cancelled.
As AFP has reported, the dispute hinges on plans by Lufthansa to scrap an arrangement under which pilots can retire at 55 and receive up to 60 percent of their pay until they reach the statutory retirement age of 65.
