Lucky dip for over 300 citizens

A PUBLIC lucky dip for the sale of 18 subsidised apartments for couples and families without the means to buy on the open market, organised by Lisbon Câmara, took place on February 8.

From a possible 458, 337 people were chosen for the shortlist for the 18 properties located in Lisbon’s Casalinha da Ajuda neighbourhood.

The municipal authority’s social housing department said that it had sponsored the public competition in order to create possibilities for middle class families, who didn’t have the financial means to afford mortgages on the open property market.

Lisbon Câmara is also currently promoting a policy of trying to keep or attract young working people in the centre of Lisbon, to stop the desertification of the city centre and reduce the number of cars coming in and out at peak times.
