A ONE-year old stray puppy survived being hit by a car whose driver didn’t bother to stop, not knowing that the dog was still attached.

Marco Menozzi hit the dog at such a speed that the animal became embedded in the grill under the bonnet of his Peugeot 207 and clung on until the vehicle stopped.

The puppy, which suffered a broken leg and some bruising, was later taken to the police kennel to find a new owner.

An Italian police spokesman said: “He’s a very lucky boy. He was saved because he was hit so hard. Any softer and he would have bounced off the car and been crushed under the wheels.”
