The extraordinary story of Luana Pereira took an unexpected turn yesterday when a judge decided to free the 48-year-old, suspected of the teen’s kidnap and with whom she was ostensibly enjoying an ‘amorous relationship’ for eight months while her family were in torment, not knowing whether she was even alive. The father-of-two has been freed on the lightest of bail terms – TIR, which means he must remain living at the address given to authorities – but with the condition that he remains away from the borough of Leiria (where Luana lives with her parents) and does not attempt to contact her.
