Low tourism expectations

TOURISM LEVELS in the Algarve are not expected to rise this year according to António Pina, the president of the Regional Tourism Board (RTA).

Increases in the prices of fuel, rice and other food are blamed by António Pina for tourists having less money than ever to come away on holiday with and he believes tourists “will think twice before coming on holiday this year”.

Although officials are pessimistic about the 2008 summer season, hotels are reporting that they have not heard any complaints from tourists as yet.
