Loulé supports further digs after last year’s discovery of giant salamander fossils

Further digs will be taking place in Loulé following last year’s discovery of an extinct species of amphibian that resembled a giant salamander believed to have inhabited the Algarve over 220 million years ago. The new digs will be financed and supported by Fundação António Aleixo, Lisbon’s Universidade Nova and Loulé borough council.
