Loulé sex-attacker sought by police

PJ police are hunting a man who allegedly tried to rape a woman in her 50s in Loulé on Sunday morning (April 2).

National tabloid Correio da Manhã reports the victim was walking to work at around 5.40am on Rua Joaquim Rasquinho when she was “attacked”.

Her screams were heard by residents even though the man had his hands over her mouth as he tried to remove her trousers.

“I heard the woman’s desperate screams and saw the man taking her clothes off and trying to rape her, as if he were an animal,” a witness told CM.

The man fled as soon as he realised he had been detected, leaving the woman “bleeding on the ground with several injuries to her face and in a state of shock”.

INEM emergency services treated the woman while police found a jacket and hat nearby which they believe belonged to the attacker.

CM adds that authorities have identified the man.
