LOULÉ CÂMARA, in partnership with Faro Câmara and Parque das Cidades, hosted a promotional stand at Ferantur, Andalucia’s Tourism and Rural Development Fair, which took place at Palácio Fibes in Seville earlier this month. The event proved extremely popular, attracting around 30,000 visitors and 57 exhibitors.
Promotion and awareness of the rich diversity of Loulé’s tourist offer are very important for the consolidation and development of tourism in the borough, and Ferantur is an excellent event for promoting the area across the frontier. Loulé’s selling points, such as beaches, golf and nature, were highlighted for the Spanish visitors to the exhibition. Cultural events such as the Festa da Mãe Soberana, Festival Med and Festival de Jazz were also promoted.
With regard to entertainment, the Grupo Etnográfico da Serra do Caldeirão (Cortelha-Salir), the Grupo Folclórico de Faro and Charolas de Santa Bárbara de Nêxe gave singing and dancing performances. Complimentary drinks and traditional local delicacies were offered to the general public and press.
Authorities from the Algarve, including the Presidents of Loulé and Faro Câmaras, staff from the Algarve Tourism Board and the Algarve Tourism Association, as well as Euro MP from Loulé, Jamila Madeira, were a strong presence at the stand on one particular day.
Loulé was also promoted at Algarve Convida (Algarve Invites), a promotional fair specifically focusing on selling holidays to the Algarve, which took place in Lisbon last weekend (see full report and pictures on page 2).
