Organisers of the producers’ market (mercado de produtores) in Loulé have announced that the event will now be held on Friday, December 24 and Friday, December 31, between 7am and 12.30pm.
As the market usually takes place on Saturdays and the next two Saturdays are holidays (Christmas Day and New Year’s Day), the event would not be able to take place – thus the date changes.
The decision will not only allow producers to sell their products but will also give shoppers the opportunity to buy some fresh local produce in time for the festive meals.
Says Loulé Concelho Global – the municipal company that organises the event – buying local produce helps bolster the local economy and is also more environmentally-friendly.
The event takes place next to Loulé’s municipal market.
