Fifteen kilos of cabbages from the social vegetable gardens of Loulé have been given to two social institutions – Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Loulé and António Aleixo foundation, which both provide an average of 65 meals per day to people in need.
The initiative was supported by José Cristo, who is responsible for overseeing the social vegetable gardens, Irene Silveira, technical director of the Santa Casa da Misericordia de Loulé, and Carina Calixto, technical director of the António Aleixo Foundation.
The gardens, comprising 20 plots of 30m2, provide citizens, especially the most needy, with the opportunity to plant their own vegetables so they can enjoy fresh agricultural products and save some money.
