Loulé Council has donated three electric vehicles to the local health centre (Centro de Saúde), which will help “provide a more effective and closer response to the community in terms of healthcare”.
Says the council, the vehicles will be used for long-term integrated care, home visits, community and public health events, school health and other related initiatives.
The local authority says the agreement to decentralise healthcare (with the State handing over healthcare responsibilities to the local council) was signed on January 1, 2021.
In other words, Loulé council is now responsible for taking part in planning, managing and carrying out investments related to new primary healthcare units (namely building, equipping and maintaining them), as well as other primary healthcare infrastructures.
