Longest day of golf success

Last Saturday (June30) a group of Algarve residents came together to make up five teams to participate in the ‘Longest Day of Golf Challenge’ in aid of the MacMillan Cancer Charity.

At the time of going to press, €18,000 had already been raised for the cause.

The event challenged players to complete 72 holes of golf in one day, whilst carrying their own golf bags for approximately 40 kilometres across four courses in Quinta do Lago, including Laranjal, Pinheiros Altos and San Lorenzo, which donated the green fees and refreshments.

One team of four friends, Jonathan Bennett, Paul Greenhalgh, Jamie O Doherty and Daniel Warwick, raised a total of €1,910 and the Algarve Paddle Boarders team (pictured) raised €11,000.
