January 8 marks what would have been the 75th birthday of Elvis Presley and to celebrate the landmark birthday, Sony Music have released Elvis 75.

Described as the “ultimate” Elvis collection of hits, the album features 75 tracks by Elvis spanning his entire career in a three disc set.  Starting with Heartbreak Hotel, the song that catapulted Elvis into the UK limelight back in 1956 and finishing with the remix of A Little Less Conversation released by JXL in 2002, the number one hit that reaffirmed the continuing popularity of the king’s music by fans in the new millennium.

It is hard to believe in a time when one hit wonders are common place that all 75 of the featured songs were UK top 20 hits and shows just how popular Elvis is and was.

For real Elvis fans, there is also Elvis 75 – Good Rockin’ Tonight being released to coincide with the historic birthday. This is a massive four disc box set with 100 songs and includes an 80 page booklet containing rare photos of the snake hipped singer and features an essay by musical and cultural critic Billy Altman.
