Tasting local wines whilst enjoying a panoramic view of Praia da Rocha and the Arade River is the calling card of Portimão Wine Tasting, which is returning between July 22 and 24 to the Santa Catarina fortress after a two-year interval due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Organised by the Portimão Tourism Association, the event aims to showcase the quality of the wines produced in the borough and allow visitors to not only taste the wines but meet the people who make them.

This year, Herdade dos Pimentéis, Quinta da Penina and Aveleda SA will be the participating wineries.

There will also be live music and dance performances and a selection of food to enjoy, from Ria de Alvor oysters and roast pig on a spit to cheeses and smoked sausages.

The event will take place between 8pm and midnight and is free to attend, but visitors must purchase a wine glass for €1.50 if they want to taste the wines. Each wine can be tasted for €2 or €2.50.
