A fundraising event for the British-based charity Help 4 Heroes raised more than €2,300 for the fund which supports injured members of the British Armed Forces.
A dinner and auction were held at A Laranja restaurant in Burgau and then in Jimmi’s Bar on June 25, the same date as National Armed Forces Day in the UK.
Tracy Sewell, the owner of A Laranja, told the Algarve Resident: “Around 40 people attended the excellent meal cooked by our chef Vicky Donley and served by our restaurant manager Peter Banks which was then followed by an auction held in Jimmi´s Bar.”
Prizes for the auction were donated by local business and included a round of golf at Parque da Floresta, a dart board from FJ North and a horse riding trek donated by Tiffanys riding school.
The total raised for Help 4 Heroes was €2,340 and included money from the meal, the auction, the sale of wristbands, online donations and also from the staff, children and parents of the Barlavento International English School in Espiche.
“People can still donate by visiting www.bmycharity.com/vistamarproperties and we are still selling wristbands throughout the season,” said Tracy.
