Local artist Inna Hawker to unveil exhibition at Lagoa’s Convent’Bio this weekend

An exhibition of several paintings by local artist Inna Hawker will be inaugurated this Saturday (May 1) at Lagoa’s Convent’bio store.

The exhibition will run until the end of May and will be open for individual viewings only due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The opening ceremony with food and drinks will run from 10am to 2pm.

Around 30 paintings will be on display, all following the theme of “Nature Within”.

Open Monday through Friday from 9am to 6pm and Saturday from 9am to 1pm, Convent’Bio is located on the EN125 road in the building of the former Carmo convent in Sítio do Carmo.

Inna is a self-taught artist who was born in Ukraine in 1981 and moved to Portugal over 10 years ago.

Inna realised she had a talent for art from an early age. Expressing herself, her thoughts and feelings in art form has always come naturally to her. It was only once she had balanced herself and dealt with her own personal issues, however, that she felt able to truly open up and express herself through her artwork.

She began with simple sketches and gradually moved onto paintings with more and more detail. In her art, Inna shares the visions she receives during meditation and dreams. Inna paintings are highly symbolic and many of her art pieces reflect important celestial events.

The art that Inna creates is very reflective of the current state of the world and her style changes greatly depending on the personal and universal emotions and information she feels the need to share at the time. Different paintings of hers will attract different people, depending on their emotional state and the difficulties they are facing at that moment in time.
