The year’s fourth and final ‘Living in the Algarve’ event took place last Friday, November 18 at the Anantara Vilamoura Resort and was hailed another success by all involved.

The events bring together expert speakers covering a wide range of subjects from legal matters and tax advice to real estate, residency, currency exchange, healthcare and education.

“We were pleasantly surprised by the high turnout of attendees,” said Bruce Hawker of Open Media, organiser of the events. “Our last event held in September, at a time of year when the Algarve is far busier than now, more than met our expectations in terms of visitor numbers. But for this event, held in late November, we had set our expectations a little lower, so we were very pleased to welcome a similar number of people.”

Data taken from the attendees revealed that the event attracted a broad spectrum of nationalities made up of a mix of people already living in the region and those thinking of (or in the process of) moving here.

UK nationals made up around 40% of attendees with Germany, the USA and the Netherlands amongst the highest number of registrations from a total of 18 different nationalities.

Plans are in place to repeat the ‘Living in the Algarve’ events in Carvoeiro, Lagos, Quinta do Lago and Vilamoura for 2023 (in April, June, September and November, respectively), adding a possible further date for an event in the east Algarve.

In the meantime, Open Media’s international ‘Living in Portugal’ events (rebranded for all events taking place outside of the Algarve) are set to kick off this Friday, November 25 in Marbella, Spain (portugalseminars.pt).
