Academy coaches from one of England’s most successful premiership clubs, Liverpool FC, will be coming to the Algarve in July to initiate the very first Liverpool FC Soccer School in Portugal.
Following successful schools run by the academy across the globe, the club has now chosen to base a soccer school in the favourable climes of the Algarve between July 8 and 10.
The soccer school, for which the Algarve Resident is the official newspaper partner, will be open to children between the ages of five and 15 and although the coaching will be delivered in English, a local bi-lingual student will be available to translate everything into Portuguese.
The camp is keen to encourage inclusion and because of this, children of all levels of ability, girls as well as boys and local children are all welcome at the school.
Despite being many miles from Liverpool, the soccer schools are not run through franchises to foreign partners.
This means that the camp director along with a team of 15 coaches, usually based in Liverpool, will be flown out specifically for the camp ensuring that “the Liverpool Way” ethic is upheld throughout the course.
Children at the camp are nurtured by coaches who employ a personal approach to training in order to cater for individual needs. Age and ability are always taken into consideration by the Academy coaches who tailor sessions to these requirements.
Players participate in structured coaching sessions and conditioned games balanced out with competitions, fun footballing activities and matches throughout the three-day course.
Although the course involves a significant amount of technical and tactical coaching to improve general game play, the games and competitions that are interlaced into the programme help to create an exciting experience for every player at the soccer school.
The course costs 225 euros per child and this includes three days of structured training, one Liverpool FC soccer school kit, a complimentary adidas Liverpool FC football to take home on the final day, a certificate of participation and drinks and lunches over the three days.
The school is to be held at the Alfamar Beach and Sports Resort, near Albufeira, with accommodation available for participants and guardians at the resort at a discounted rate from the standard room charges.
Places at the soccer school are limited and those wishing to participate are urged to complete an application form as soon as possible either by booking online at www.liverpoolfcsoccerschools.com or by picking up a form from the Algarve Resident or Kiss FM offices.
