Overflowing litter bins in Armação de Pêra, including those along the main beachfront area, have led to complaints from residents and tourists alike.
Foul smells worsened by the high temperatures and the negative visual impact of littered streets have become unbearable, say locals.
Silves Câmara, responsible for the waste collection services in the council, said the problem would be resolved “in the next few days, once the waste compactor truck is repaired”.
