Lisbon’s Santa Maria appeals to people “only with emergencies” to turn up at A&E

Just as predicted, appeals have already started going out to citizens ‘not to come to hospital unless it is absolutely necessary’ (see top stories for more on the crisis in Portugal’s State health service). The director of Lisbon’s Santa Maria hospital has called today for “only people needing urgent and emergent care” to arrive at Santa Maria, referring to the “difficulty in attending patients” because of so many other casualty departments in the area being closed…
