Lisbon’s city assembly last week rejected Socialist (PS) Mayor António Costa’s €730 million budget proposal for 2013. The municipal authority is now being managed on last year’s budget, which amounted to €910 million, but the Mayor has already announced that he will “freeze the difference” of nearly €200 million, in order to avoid overspending and any financial slip-ups.
